A guy with working in a chip manufacturing plant comes to picture when we usually think about Electronics and Communication engineering course. Ultimately every student wants to go there and work, but one needs to go through a continuous study of core electronics subjects, their understanding and master their application.

Electronics and Communication engineering course give enormous job opportunities in electronics and software companies. All electronic devices need software interface to run and come with one other or other device controlling programs architected and developed by electronics and communication engineering. It also gives great opportunities for research and development, as everyday consumer need new devices to support them in daily life.

It has an excellent placement record. The department has an interaction with the alumni and is continuously using their inputs for improvement of the curriculum.

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was established in the year 1998 to start a 4-year B.E. degree programme affiliated to the Anna University, Chennai. A post graduate programme leading to M.E. degree in ‘Computer and Communication Engineering’ and ‘Applied Electronics’ was introduced in the year 2007 & 2011 respectively. Thus from a modest beginning, the department has come a long way. Today, it is rated as one among the leading Department in each and every institution.

The focus of the B.E degree programme on ‘Electronics and Communications Engineering’ is so designed with the curriculum as to give adequate emphasis on the Electronic devices, circuits and communication technologies. In tune with the above objective, the syllabus features core courses like Communication theory, Digital Signal Processing, Communication theory, Microprocessor and Microcontroller, Computer Networks, Electronic Circuits, Microwave Engineering, Satellite Communication, Electronic Devices, Linear Integrated Circuits and Digital Image Processing giving a balanced coverage of the theory and practice of modern Communication Engineering. The core programme is supplemented and further reinforced by a well-chosen set of elective courses permitting the students to specialize either in the software or the hardware aspect of Communication Systems.

The focus of the M.E degree programme in Computer and Communication Engineering is to integrate computer engineering with communication systems engineering with equal emphasis on theoretical and applied education. A unique feature of the C&C program is that it prepares the student to engage in research and development projects in various areas of the field targeted at providing strategic solutions to contemporary technological problems. The emphasis in the field of Computer and Communications Engineering is on the design of systems for the acquisition, processing, storage and transmission of data and signals. The focus of the M.E degree programme in Applied Electronics is to provide value education and motivate young professionals in building stronger capability towards electronic equipments.
